“All kind of things happen in life, the very one life that we all have.
Every happening is one of its kind for me in my life and for you in your life.
The same time when I am sad, may make you happy and your sadness may make me
happy or we can both be happy and sad together. Very unique, very singular and
very intriguing is every moment of our life.” Bittu is in his mid- weekend
evening, no activity full philosophy mood and what he is trying is to stir his
coffee against clock side. Trying to step outside the circle for a moment
and see the rotating picture. Only he has Rum for Coffee today and me for
audience. Basically he will be at his best once a quarter liter in, now is just half way through.
I am trying to ignore his blabbering just like Kammla busy
with her search for a new pair of slipons literally scratching and clawing and concurring
and confirming and reconfirming every item that’s listed in every seller that
has put up a shop online yet never she finds what she is searching for or in other words satisfies her enough to make her so happy that an order is placed; or Vinodh, trying his best to keep his love and life
stable with his forever dissatisfied girlfriend Bhibha. That second step in
second half of the flight of stairs that go to our terrace to where light from the
veranda do not reach nor does darkness of the moonless night can evade nor can
his voice reach anybody inside the room. That is where he sits, always with his
phone becoming hotter gradually while he sheds his tears and quenches his anger
or even make love over air till poor phone dies. There is also Quantum, ear
phones buried deep into his ears and classic Bollywood playing in infinite loops lost deeper in
his heap of books; books of great religious man and value I suppose, Swami Vivekananda mostly. I
tried a couple of times but had to quit I get bored pretty quickly. Yet I like
Quantum of all of us and all of us love Quantum of all of us too. Wondering how
Quantum became Quantum, while in college one day his teacher asked him the definition
of Quantum Energy to which Quantum answered, “Quantum is the minimum amount of
physical energy involved in any intersextion.” And became known as Quantum since; his actual name being Umber Prakash Bhagwati.
But you see I cannot be them, not Kamla, not Vinodh, not
Quantum nor Bittu, I am me and I have to remain as me forever. Unlike the rest
I will have to walk Kamla to her PG before dinner, I will have to cook our
dinner and remind Vinodh and Quantum when dinner gets ready. Also I have to… let
us not talk about Bittu now. I have some dreams you know, earn more money than Mohan,
my manager; buy a Range-rover and go to party every night skinny jeans shinny
shirt, hot girls and cold beer around while I do my go-wild dance moves. Yet sometimes
want to settle down in a nice locality, a nice posh one near a lake marry a
simple modern educated working beautiful Indian girl; but at a second thought I
want to live free forever don’t want to get married. Forever travelling the
whole world, climbing mountains, deep sea driving, walking dense jungles and
discovering new tribes somewhere. I do
not want to go to office every day or cook food every day or clean our room every
day I don’t want to the same thing every day. I want something new every day,
something different every time I just have one life, just one day as today,
just one moment as this. That is why I cannot ignore listening Bittu’s
philosophy of life, right now his philosophy has touched more stronger notes, “… yeh
shamm mastaniii, maddhoshhh kiyeee jai koi door ‘O roop ki raani kab aayegi tu…
happy new year…lets … HAPPY NEW YEAR”- thudd!!
